The perfect CV is the perfect length

Friday, February 11th, 2011

Building the perfect CV can be tricky. Using an online CV builder like ours makes it very easy to ensure the sharpest possible look and feel, but there are other things to consider. We have a lot of free CV templates available. Which one do you choose? How much information should you put in it?

Making a cv too long is a common mistake. It’s rarely necessary to put every little detail of your working and academic life down on paper, and if potential employers want that kind of depth they will usually say so. To a degree, the ideal level of detail depends on the job you are applying for. For example, a recent graduate with a limited amount of work experience may want to list the individual courses they took at university or college, but if you are at a later stage in your career it looks odd if you pay too much attention to particular academic courses you completed years ago.

There is usually no need to list every job you ever did either. Unless you are just starting out in the job market, don’t list too many of the summer jobs you did as a student (unless they are relevant) or the paper round you had as a kid. Listing too much job information from long ago makes it look like you don’t have enough more recent experience to talk about. If you’ve been in full time work for quite a while, a five year employment history is generally enough. If you’ve been a long time at one company, list your last three employers.

A Little History About The Plumber Trade

Friday, February 19th, 2010

Plumbers specialize in the installation and maintenance of water systems. Like electricians, they are required to obtain a license from a trade or vocational school and have a background in various aspects of industrial, domestic, and communal pipe work, water heating (steam- and gas- fitters), water treatment (such as water cleaning and purification), drainage, sewer networking, dynamics of water flow, water storage, temperature adjustment, and dangers of water hazards.

plumbers get their name from the Latin Plumbum, for “lead,” since the ancient Romans used pipes made from lead. The term therefore refers to the metallic element out of which their main building material is made. (more…)

Jobs Available Online

Thursday, January 7th, 2010

In the past, applying for a job meant looking through the classified ads in the local paper. The advent of the internet has created various job sites online making it easier for someone to apply for work in another state and in even in another country.

It has made the world a smaller place with everything at one’s fingertip and just a click away. Most job sites will require a person to open an account, fill in certain information and deposit a resume.  These sites usually ask for pertinent information such as the person’s name, age, address, contact number and social security number.

Other information that will be requested are educational background. Some companies prefer someone with a degree in a certain field or a licensed professional to do the job or perhaps a person who possesses a master’s degree. Employment history is also another thing that has to be mentioned. This includes the job description and highlights that you have experienced during your career. (more…)

Career- Are You In The Right Seat?

Monday, December 28th, 2009

We all have a chair that designates a position in our career. For most of us the position, the responsibilities, the growth prospects and many such factors decide if we are happy in our seat? Sometimes, we may be unaware that another seat may send us much higher in the hierarchy and satisfaction level. Sometimes we are frustrated with our job for no easily identifiable reason. There are many such factors that determine if we are on the right seat. Let us examine some of them.

Involvement

How involved we are with what we do? Are we so engrossed with our job, that we have no time to think of anything else? Or we are so less connected with our job that having it or not makes no difference to us? Albert Einstein, the great scientist was so involved with his job of thinking and finding solutions to mysteries of physics and cosmos that he had no time left for anything else. His involvement was total. Do you have such an involvement? (more…)

Learn How To Answer Interview Questions

Tuesday, December 15th, 2009

At one time or another most of us will have to go through a formal interview with a company that has a job opportunity we are interested in. The interview is probably the most difficult part for most people because there is always apprehension about what questions will be asked and how they should respond.

The way in which applicants answer job interview questions will greatly determine if they get the job or not. Applicants should be confident in their responses and project professionalism throughout the interview, and answer job interview questions truthfully and respectfully, not to say that some personality should not be projected, but should be kept inline with that of the interviewer.

Preparation is the key in order to answer job interview questions correctly and appropriately. There are many online sites that are available to applicants to help them get through the interview process successfully. Important points to keep in mind before the time comes to answer job interview questions, is that plenty of research about the company and the position being applied for should be conducted thoroughly before the interview. The interviewee should anticipate what questions will be asked of them, and answer them correctly when asked without trying to bluff their way through the interview. Professional interviewers can spot a bull****** a mile away! This will not win points and could end the interview immediately. The best way to answer job interview questions is honestly and directly. Friday, January 16th, 2009

What makes an executive resume “executive”? Is it the format? Is it the content? Or is it the personal marketing strategy? Executive resumes are different in all these areas. Executive resumes are targeted toward a hiring agent that is seeking more than the typical job seeker’s qualifications.
