The rules under Foreign Currency Management Act (FEMA), 1999, don’t permit resident Indians to trade in foreign currency in domestic or overseas marketplaces.
The RBI’s instruction is available in the wake of introduction of overseas foreign currency buying and selling on numerous Internet and electronic buying and selling sites, tempting the citizens with offers of guaranteed preferred tax treatment according to such foreign exchange buying and selling.

“The ads by these Internet or online sites exhort individuals to trade in foreign exchange by means of having to pay the first investment amount in Indian rupees,” the RBI stated.

“…the credit card giving companies who can also be advised to stay alert against enabling obligations for such unsanctioned transactions,” the central bank stated.
The apex bank stated it’s also observed that accounts are now being opened up within the title of people or proprietary concerns at different bank branches for collecting the margin and investment money.
Banks happen to be requested to exercise “due caution and become extra vigilant” according from the such transactions, the RBI’s circular stated.
